My Business Process

The hiring process is a business process I recently used in my career. The hiring manager determines new staffing need and position requirements was defined. I then composed and submitted the job requisition for approval. The job is then posted to the web and the company's intranet. The applicants reviewed the job posting and applied for the position with a copy of their resume. I received the application and reviewed it; I then selected applicants using the skill set for the position. I scheduled interview with the hiring manager, and the applicants were interviewed and ranked according to their performance. I checked their references and ranked them again based on their performance and references. The hiring manager and I selected the best candidate for the position and an offer was made. (If the 1st ranked candidate refused the offer then we will offer the position to the 2nd ranked). In this case, there was no refusal. For more information about the hiring process, please visit

Management Information System and My Career

The Human Resources Management Information Systems interacts between HR management and information technology. 3 of the systems I currently use are:
Payroll management: This system automates the pay process by gathering data on employee time and attendance, calculating various deductions and taxes, and generating periodic pay cheques and employee tax reports. Data is generally fed from the human resources and time keeping modules to calculate automatic deposit and manual cheque writing capabilities. This system can encompass all employee-related transactions as well as integrate with existing financial management systems. This system has contributed to the business goals by managing costs, increased employees satisfaction, managing government regulations by reporting all taxes, employees and company.

HR management: This is a component covering many other HR aspects from application to retirement. The system records basic demographic and address data, selection, training and development, capabilities and skills management, compensation planning records and other related activities. The systems provide the ability to "read" applications and enter relevant data to applicable database fields, notify employers and provide position management and position control not in use. Human resource management function involves the recruitment, placement, evaluation, compensation and development of the employees of an organization. This system have been able to provide systematic plan to the hiring and building of a professional work team. It provides assistant to employees, helps in building a public relation and have been most effective in managing employee database.

The Employee Self-Service: This system allows employees to query HR related data and perform some HR transactions over the system. Employees may query their attendance record from the system without asking the information from HR personnel. The module also lets supervisors approve O.T. requests from their subordinates through the system without overloading the task on HR department. Many organizations have gone beyond the traditional functions and developed human resource management information systems, which support recruitment, selection, hiring, job placement, performance appraisals, employee benefit analysis, health, safety and security. This system have reduced the number of employees in the HR office; which have hence reduced cost. It also gives employee satisfaction because they can easily access information.

Business Leaders I Admire

President Barack Obama is the first African American to become the president of the United States. I like his tenacity, loyalty to the welfare of the people and through his hard work and perseverance, I have learned that nothing is impossible. As long as I dream it; I can have it!

Pastor Wale Akinsiku is a Pharmacist by profession but the Pastor of my church, the Redeemed Christan Church of God in Mississauga, ON. I like my pastor because of the simple and realistic way at which he explains the word of God. His vision is to empower people to achieve their dreams and fulfill their God-given destiny. One of his classic message that I love is titled "Developing your capacity to excel" where he encouraged people to balance their knowledge by growing in spiritual understanding and the knowledge of a specific discipline; as one of the ways to develop ones capacity. He has been able to grow the church from a $500 equity to a million dollar one. Through his leadership, our church paid off a 15 years mortgage in 3 and a half years. To learn about this exceptional leader, visit http://www.houseofpraise.ca/.

Hilary Clinton is the United States' Secretary of State. She worked her way up the ladder by working hard and protecting the values of the people. I like her because of the way she supported her husband, Bill Clinton, during his troubled years.

My Personal Goals

I want to use education as a tool to achieve my personal goals. I want to be financially stable by completing my educational goals and apply what I learn to forward my career and business. I want to be a good mother to my 2 daughters aged 10 and 7. I want to set good examples and be their role model. I want to be the best in every area of my life. I want to move closer to God by setting time to study the bible. I want to love myself more because it is when I love myself that I can be able to love others as I love myself.

My Educational Achievements

Education is defined as any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability. I can say that my first semester experience have deposited a high level of knowledge in my life. Every course I took; from Business Mathematics to my general elective, Aging Matters, have given me vast knowledge in my chosen career. I learned how to effectively manage my time by attending all classes on time, submitting assignment on time and preparing ahead for quiz, test and exams. I worked in a group with other classmates to learn how to work within a team and excel. I picked up and developed different skills as a student to enable me succeed. I have learned to set goals and work towards achieving those goals. I exercised professionalism through out the first semester because the business school lecturers demands it. With these learning, I was able to complete my 1st semester in my 1st year with a 4.0 GPA. The act of learning and the experience of interacting with fellow students and lecturers in my 1st semester have left a formative effect on my mind, character and physical ability. I have grown in knowledge and I am entering my 2nd semester with optimism. I am looking forward to another opportunity of learning and making more educational friends.

My Information Technology Career Goals

My IT career goal is to become a Business Analyst and then grow into jobs as a a Director of Information Technology. My long-term goal is to become a Chief Technology Officer in an international fortune 500 company.

I am preparing for these goals by focusing on my studies and following through with my educational goals; I want to complete my Advance Diploma with honors and then pursue a Degree in Management and Masters in Management Information Systems. I will connect with groups and organizations in my field and will be attentive to changes in my profession. I hope to work in an environment where I can help a company achieves its goal and objectives and where I can achieve personal growth and career development. With my educational background and desire to learn and improve myself continually, I will be capable of handling the challenges the workforce can and will bring.
